Has It Been One of Those Days?

Maybe you’re just really, really tired, and you’re wondering how much more you can take before you completely fall apart.

Maybe you’re struggling with a haunting sense of restlessness, or a nagging feeling of anxiety that continues to plague you no matter how hard you try to shake it.

Maybe your prayers seem unanswered and problems keep coming at you like waves without any end in sight.

Or maybe you’re just wondering why life has to be so stinking hard.

If your heart could use a little encouragement tonight, allow me to share these words from author Beth Moore that stirred my soul years ago and continue to stir it every single time I read them:

“Why does God allow us to spend so much of life in the heat of battle? Because He never meant for us to sip His Spirit like a proper cup of tea. He meant for us to hold our sweating heads over the fountain and lap up His life with unquenchable thirst.”

If you find yourself trapped in the heat of battle right now, I hope you’ll do just what she says: Lap up the Lord’s power and grace and love with reckless abandon. Quit taking small sips of His Spirit, and drink in His living water with all the gusto of a desert-weary traveler who’s just found a much needed oasis.

He’s there, you know. Closer than you can ever imagine. And I know without a doubt that He’s waiting to quench your thirst.
